Valerie Skinner Martin

Valerie Skinner Martin, age 90, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at her residence.  She was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired secretary from the Nashville Banner/Tennessean, and a member of First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lawrence and Cannie Rosell Beck Skinner; and her husband, Thomas J. Martin.

She is survived by one brother, Dr. Wendell Skinner of Kingsport, TN; two sisters, Vera Odom and Sybil Hardison, both of Lawrenceburg, TN; special friend, Robert Buford Springer of Lawrenceburg, TN; several nieces and nephews.  Those serving as pallbearers are Steven Odom, Mike Odom, Mark Odom, Thomas Wilkins, Dr. John Moore, and Terry Evans.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a graveside service and interment will be conducted at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2020, with Reggie Coleman officiating.
