Robert Edward "Sonny" Duke

Robert Edward "Sonny" Duke, age 84, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was a native of Davidson County, TN, retired former owner of Swap & Shop Center and a member of First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg.  He was also a former member of the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club's K-Notes and the Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club.  Mr. Duke served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, General Arthur and Mary Forgy Duke; one daughter, Kayla Jean Duke Hood; and one sister, Juanita Duke Adcock.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jane Duke of Lawrenceburg, TN; four children, Kimberly Sue Pennington of Franklin, TN, Kyle Edward Duke (Lynn) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Beth Duke Lerner of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Robert A. Duke (Daniyelle) of Placida, FL; son-in-law, Ricky Hood of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister, Judy Birdsong of Lawrenceburg, TN; eight grandchildren, Blaize Duke Pennington, Miles Pennington, Josh Duke, Jase Duke, Ryan Mattox, Clara Lerner, Will Duke, and Harrison Duke; seven great-grandchildren, Cole Duke, Finn Duke, Miya Kate Duke, Cohen Duke, Luke Mattox, Hudson Mattox, and Kate Mattox.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM Sunday, August 02, 2020 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 02, 2020, with Ed Trimmer officiating.  Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with military honors.  Family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Nicaragua Scholarship Fund.
