Marvin Lee Newell

Marvin Lee Newell, age 76, of Summertown, TN passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired from Union Carbide, and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.  Mr. Newell served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy L. Newell, Sr. and Edna Merle Blue Newell; and two sons, Alex Newell and Joseph Hunter Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hunter Newell of Summertown, TN; one daughter, Tonya Lea Etheridge (Michael) of Summertown, TN; three grandchildren, Paige Shuemaker (Luke) of Paducah, KY, Luke Isbell (Cheyenne) and Alexa Newell both of Summertown, TN; three great-grandchildren,  Addie Isbell and Alex Isbell, both of Summertown, TN, and Letti Shuemaker of Paducah, KY; three brothers, Larry Newell of Franklin, TN, Glenn Newell  and Troy Newell, both of Summertown, TN; and three sisters, Linda Newell of Lawrenceburg, TN, Brenda Jones of Murfreesboro, TN, and Lydia Benefield of Columbia, TN.  Those serving as pallbearers are Michael Etheridge, Luke Shuemaker, Luke Isbell, Joe Isbell, Heath Newell, and Keith McCafferty.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, November 14, 2020 and from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 15, 2020, with Chad Moore and Gary Hughes officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.  For those attending, masks are required, we also ask you to please social distance.  Family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
