Lucy Hedgepeth Prentice

Lucy Hedgepeth Prentice, age 89, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Monday, March 02, 2020 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.  She was a native of Lawrence County, TN and a member of Cloverdale Congregational Methodist Church.  Mrs. Prentice was one of the original five female bus drivers for the Lawrence County School System where she drove a school bus for 27 years.  She was also a farmer and enjoyed hunting. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Daniel and Rosie Howell Hedgepeth; her husband, John L. Prentice; one daughter, JoAnn Prentice; one grandson, Larry Prentice, Jr.; three brothers, Alex Hedgepeth, J. D. Hedgepeth, and Roy Hedgepeth; one sister, Rachel Leighton; and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by eight children, J. L. Prentice (Arvy), Danny Prentice (Gail), Dale Prentice (Diane), Carl Prentice (Sharon), Larry Prentice (Christy), Shelby Kilburn (Glenn), Jimmy Prentice (Tina), and Roy Prentice (John) all of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister, Susie Clary (Wallace) of Franklin, TN; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; countless step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren that she considered her on grandkids; beloved pet, Lulu; and dear friend, Dorothy Hanson.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 04, 2020 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 05, 2020, with Bill Ingram and Brenda Kemp officiating. Interment will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
