Linda Ann Lanning Loyd

Linda Ann Lanning Loyd, 69, of Lawrenceburg passed peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023. She was an active member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, also enjoyed attending services at New Prospect United Methodist Church and OK Baptist Church. 
 
A native of Lawrence County and graduate of Lawrence County High School, Linda attended Middle Tennessee State University and later graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Linda also earned her Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Administration and Supervision at Trevecca Nazarene College in 1986. She began her teaching career shortly after her Bachelors and continued to impact the lives of hundreds of children throughout her 46 years of teaching in Lawrence and Maury counties, most recently Mount Pleasant Elementary School. Because of her dedication and love of teaching and service within the community, Linda was the first in Lawrence County to receive the Chair of Excellence award in education. Linda loved the Lord and spent her life sharing His love through her many acts of kindness and service to others. 
 
Born July 25, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Linda was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Elizabeth Ann Smith Lanning. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Dr. Larry Allan Loyd. She was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, William Hardy Loyd of Santa Fe, TN. 
 
A devoted mother, Granna, and sister, Linda is survived by one daughter, Laura Loyd Sandrell (Chris) of Columbia, TN; two sons, Charles Loyd (Abby) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Samuel Loyd (Lynzi) of Spring Hill, TN; seven grandchildren, Annlee Sandrell, Sadie Sandrell, Chase Sandrell of Columbia, TN, Lily Loyd, Annie Loyd, Will Loyd of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Leo Loyd and one on the way of Spring Hill, TN; two sisters, Julie Lanning Rolen (Jeff), Janet Lanning Hartsfield (Ronnie) both of Lawrenceburg, TN; two brothers Mike Lanning (Gina) of Murfreesboro, TN, Rick Lanning (Karen) of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister-in-law, Dolly Loyd of Santa Fe, TN. Linda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
 
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Neal Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Bro. Mickey Brackin and Bro. Billy Beal officiating.  Interment will follow at Shaw Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN.
 
The Loyd family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the many friendships and memories she enjoyed over her lifetime. The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.  Many of you know Linda loved reading and books, so a donation can be made to a public school of your choice.
