James Herman Cheney, age 89, of Leoma, TN passed away Friday, December 03, 2021, at his residence. He was a native of Forrest City, AR, retired from the U.S. Army, retired from Eskridge & Holland Realty & Auction Co., and attended Leoma Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Artemus and Edna Vera Nightingale Cheney; and his wife, Mary Ella Rinks Cheney.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Turner (James Gray) of Columbia, TN; three grandchildren, Mavis Marie Turner, Tara Colleen Turner, and Clayton Cheney Turner; and several siblings in Arkansas and Florida. The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Freda and Jimmy Dryden, Angela Townsend, Dean Hampton, and Caris Hospice for their caring service.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, December 06, 2021, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Monday, December 06, 2021, with Rodney Livingston officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, A Local Food Bank, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
