James Edward Black, age 79, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a native of Columbus, MS and retired electrical technician from Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He was also a member of Royal Heights Baptist Church, Mimosa Lodge No. 542, VFW Post 1618, American Legion Post 2000, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 214. Mr. Black served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Annie Mae Kenham Black; and one daughter, Frankie Renee Weatherly.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Lea Black of Lawrenceburg, TN; four children, Derek Black (Tammy) of Chandler, TX, James Trimble (Tammy) of Lebanon, OH, Forest Black (Allison) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and James Wood (Gloria) of Colmesneil, TX; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Center Point Methodist Cemetery with full military honors at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 14, 2020, with Herstel Carter officiating. Family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
