Howard W. Hayes

Howard W. Hayes, age 91, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at NHC Healthcare of Scott in Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was a native of Ethridge, TN, owner of Hayes Package Store, an Atlanta Braves fan, and a member of Wilderness Chapel in Hohenwald, TN.  He was also a member of VFW Post 1618 and American Legion.  Mr. Hayes served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Wilson and Minnie Bell Williams Hayes; his wife, Virginia Sue Brewer Hayes; four brothers, Barney Hayes, Ottis Hayes, Tom Hayes, and Charles Hayes; and one sister, Pauline Newton.

He is survived by five children, Judy Roberson (Bobby), Betty Heard, Debbie Harris (Chuck), Randall Hayes (Tammy), and Ginger Durham (Tommy), all of Lawrenceburg, TN; six grandchildren, Nick Fox, Jackie D. Heard, Crystal Davis, Blake Flesher, Lila Durham, and Hunter Durham; and eight great-grandchildren, Tori Heard, Lexi Heard, Cole Heard, Madi Heard, Riley Davis, Ryder Davis, Hayes Flesher, and Holt Flesher.  Pallbearers will be Nick Fox, Jackie D. Heard, Blake Flesher, Brandon Gallaher, Derrick Tripp, and Hunter Durham.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2023, with John Rawdon officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Ethridge Cemetery in Ethridge, TN with full military honors.  The family suggests memorials be made to Lawrence County Disabled American Veterans Chapter (DAV).
