Dorothy "Dot" Johns Becker

Dorothy "Dot" Johns Becker, age 95, of Leoma, TN passed away Friday, February 05, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN, after a brief illness. 

She was born in Terrytown, TN, to Will and Elizabeth Johns.  She trained as an electrician on B-17's in Courtland.  She met her husband, Marvin "Beck", on a blind date and they married on May 1, 1945.  She became a member of the Rosie the Riveters several years later and was honored in a ceremony at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville with a song that had been written about her as a Rosie.

She enjoyed working with her flowers and vegetable garden, doing yardwork, going to gospel music concerts, and cooking big dinners for her family gatherings.

She was baptized as a member of Lighthouse Ministries Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Becker; three brothers, Reeder Johns, James Johns, and Bob Johns; one sister, Pearlene; one son, Randy Becker; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Becker. 

She is survived by one son, Ron Becker of Gardendale, AL, two grandsons, Ben Becker and Nathan Becker; two granddaughters, Beth McMeekin and Brooke Becker; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021.  Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Veterans Van Program, 203 Deller Street, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.
