DW Shelton

DW Shelton, age 90, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at his residence in Summertown, TN. He was a native of Peppertown, AL, retired rural mail carrier and barber.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 1618, the American Legion, and Summertown Church of Christ.  Mr. Shelton served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnie Lee and Katie Bell Green Shelton; two sisters, Adean Wegner and Margie Payne; and two brothers, Edward Shelton and Dois Shelton.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Morrow Shelton of Summertown, TN; two daughters, Cherry Klinghard (Marion) and Deborah Hodge (Bill), both of Summertown, TN; one son, Wade Shelton (LeAnn) of Hampshire, TN; eleven grandchildren, Alaina Essary (Jason), Alaric Klinghard (Katie), Cline Hodge (Abbye), A.J. Klinghard, Josie Willis (Klent), Kimberly McCord (Jake), Timothy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Katie Beth Shelton, Kathryn Shelton, and Tyler Shelton; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Theo Shelton (Linda) of Lexington, AL; two sisters, Faye Matich of Chicago, IL and Edith Coots of WV.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022.  Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.
