Billy Joe Caperton, age 86, of Westpoint, TN passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL. He was a native of Wayne County, TN, retired from General Motors, and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr. Caperton served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys Nelson Caperton; one brother, James Jackson Caperton; and one sister, Eva Carlene Caperton Story.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Rowena Caperton of Westpoint, TN; one son, Gary Caperton (Peggy) of Columbia; one daughter, Debbie Caperton (John Puckett) of Westland, MI; TN; two sisters, Bobbie Nell Caperton McCrory of St. Joseph, TN and Anna Ruth Caperton Dobbs of Ethridge, TN; one brother, Donald Rex Caperton of Westpoint, TN; sister-in-law, Fayetta Caperton of Collinwood, TN; four grandchildren, Brandon Caperton of Spring Hill, TN, Lauren Kennedy (Cody) of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Shelby Caperton of Columbia, TN, and Matthew Odor (Allison) of Livonia, MI; two great-grandchildren. Michael Odor and Molly Odor, both of Livonia, MI; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order No. 17, a private graveside service was held at Bethlehem Cemetery.
