Betty Joyce Short Land

Betty Joyce Short Land, age 88, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, in Murfreesboro, TN.  She was born on December 22, 1934, in Ethridge, TN.

She first and foremost loved the Lord, and she loved her beloved “Bob” for 73 years. She was a wonderful Mother that cherished her children, Bobby Jr. (Beverly), Mike (Laura), and Cathy (Bob).

A very loving, vibrant GRANDmother to Angela (Randal), Joe Riley, Brian (Samantha), Chantelle (Bill), Bart (Kemble), and Will (Stephanie); step-grandchildren, Patricia (Kyle) and Jeremy (Stephanie).  

Great-Grandmother to Cody, Samantha Kate, Selena, Abrianna, and Ryan; step-great-grandmother to Steven, Tylar, Tessa, Melanie, Kyleigh, Alaina, and Stella; and Great-Great-Grandmother to Jorah.

Preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Short, and father, Joe Short; sister, Joan Spero; and brother Buddy Short.

To many, she was “Aunt Betty” and “Mama Bet” and as a sister-in-law, she was “Bet”.  Many claimed her also as “Mom” and “Granna” and she was the adopted Mom to many of her children’s friends and some just claimed her as “their mom”.

She will be missed immensely and remembered forever by so many, many people.  If you ever met and talked with her, she drew you in with that smile and considered you Family!

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2023, with Jerome Frandle, Philip Farris, and Ruth Hughes officiating.
