William Edward Cothran, Sr.

William Edward Cothran, Sr., age 87, of Ethridge, TN passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was a retired painter from D.L. Smith Painting and a member of Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church.

Born Tuesday, March 31, 1931, in Ethridge, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Gene Cothran and the late Lillian Wasson Cothran Vorhees.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Cothran; two daughters, Debbie Taylor and Valerie Scott; and one son-in-law, Kenny Taylor.

Surviving are sons, William Edward Cothran, Jr. (Sheila) of Ethridge, TN, and Tracy Cothran (Beth) of Franklin, TN; sisters, JoAnn Obermier of Montclair, CA, Carol Johnston of Lawrenceburg, TN, Toni Rae Patterson of Hemet, CA and Vickie Barnes of Marietta, GA; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Those serving as pallbearers are Chris Cothran, Nick Cothran, Tyler Cothran, Darrell Scott, Randy Cothran, and Richard Cothran.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2019 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2019, with Bob Johnston officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Ethridge Cemetery in Ethridge, TN.  Family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
