Robert (Bob) Lee Curtis

July 2, 1934 ~ October 22, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Robert (Bob) Lee Curtis passed away on Sunday, October 22nd at the Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Bob was born on July 2, 1934 in the small community of Mt. Joy in Maury County, the son of the late William and Evelyn Curtis.  Bob and his late wife, Martha Rebecca Curtis, recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.  He served proudly in the Korean War, but understood the toll it took on his fellow countrymen and rarely spoke of his time there.  After the war, he spent over 30 years as a welder and pipefitter.  To say he was an avid outdoorsman is a bit of an understatement; between hunting and fishing, he had a hobby for every season.  Unwilling to stand still, after work he could be found in the shed behind his house tinkering on an engine.  Every spring he planted a garden, and his corn and green beans were the best you ever tasted (with Rebecca’s help, obviously).  However, his greatest enjoyment in life was his family, and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could.

Survivors include his children, Michael (Donna) Curtis, Mickey Curtis, and Matthew (Melissa) Curtis, all of Summertown; grand-children Brittney (Jarit) Cornelius of Summertown, Joshua (Meredith) Curtis of Nashville, Sam (Delilah) Curtis of Lawrenceburg, Rebecca (Zac) Newton of Mt. Pleasant, and Hunter Curtis of Lawrenceburg; great-grandchildren Ella Reese and Ava Kate Cornelius, both of Summertown; brothers Dave (Fannie Mae) Curtis and Jack (Sandy) Curtis and sisters Ann Pitts, Louise (Bobby) Ambrose, Mary Lovell, Lois (Vernon) Giles, Jean (Bobby) Giles, and Kathy (Terry) West, all of Summertown; one sister-in-law, Eloise Owens of Summertown.  In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brother, Larry and sister, Willie Mae "Sis".

Pallbearers will be Joshua Curtis, Hunter Curtis, Jarit Cornelius, Timmy Darnell, Kevin Ambrose, and Ronald Pitts.
