Omie Lura Smith White

December 31, 1929 ~ March 21, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Omie Lura Smith White passed away at home in Lawrence County, TN on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the age of 87.  Omie was born in Lee County, Arkansas during a brief family trip for work, but soon returned to Lawrence County, TN where she lived until graduation from Lawrence County High School in 1949.  Omie then went on to business college in Nashville, TN where she met Wilbur White, her husband of over 65 years.  During her children's formative years she was very active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America in Nashville, TN, Milwaukee, WI and Acworth, GA.  She also worked in Civil Service for 13 years during this period and, later, was a tax consultant, teacher and office manager for H&R Block in Panama City, FL and Lawrenceburg, TN.  Upon her husband's retirement they bought an RV and traveled extensively visiting family and friends and were also active in the local chapter of the Good Sam RV Club.

She is survived by five children: Cynthia White of Crestview, FL, David White of Lawrenceburg, TN, Steven White of Crestview, FL, Patrick White of Lawrenceburg, TN and Barry White of Panama City, FL; nine grandchildren: Wm. Shane Senseney, Sugar White, Misty Swann, Drew White, Thai White, Michael White, Merisa White, Wilbur White, and Lacey Hilty; and nine great-grandchildren, Shea, Caden, Khaia, Khaleesi, Karisa, Colt, Jayleigh, Adalyn, Alivia, and Bentley.  Omie is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Virginia Humbert, Osteen Smith, and Cerena Littrell, and one brother-in-law, Edgar Littrell, all of Lawrenceburg; and nieces and nephews, Kenny and Darlene, Joyce and Gary, Cathy, Mike, Karen, Kim, Scott, Skip and Colt, Michael and Ellen, Mitchell, Sharon and Matthew Mullins, and Elizabeth, Olivia, and Jon White.

Omie was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur White, her child, Edward Lee White, her parents, Other L. and Ivor T. Norwood Smith, her brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Hazel Smith, brother-in-law Mack Humbert, and her great-granddaughter, Celeste E. White.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 31, 2017 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 01, 2017, with Jeff Young officiating.  Interment will follow at Deerfield Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
